PR day at Gwinnett County Championships!
Fast race conditions coupled with hard work, resulted in most of the team
setting new personal records (PR's) early in the season. On top of the great
individual results, the Varsity Girls placed 10th overall and 4th in our region and
the Varsity Boys placed 9th overall and 4th in our region. Mike McClay ran a
National Elite time of 15:57 and finished 2nd overall!

Dacula races great at Berry!
Girls race as a strong, close pack and get 31st out of 50, beating three region rivals.
Boys team finished 15th out of 60, beating seven higher AAAAA ranked teams.
McClay leads with individual 6th and next four finished with 12 seconds of each other.

The Boys Cross Country Team had an excellent start to the season at the Walton Stage Races 8/26/06 at Gainesville College. The JV Boys placed 1st with a low score of 13 points, edging out runner up Walton who had 15. All runners who placed in the top 5 of their races earned individual meals. Placing for the team were:
Stage 1: Eric Heiss, 2nd; Bret Schulte, 4th; Nick Phillips, 5th
Stage 2: Nick Wolfe, 3rd
Stage 3: Obed Pacheco, 1st!
Stage 4: Hunter Crawford, 3rd
Stage 5: Kevin Peek, 4th; David Campbell, 5th
In the AAAA/AAAAA race, the Varsity placed 6th with a score of 52 points.
Placing for the team were:
Stage 1: Raj Prashad, 5th; Cody Campbell, 10th
Stage 2: Mike McClay, 11th
Stage 3: Jarrid Casimir, 9th
Stage 4: Chris Paterson, 10th
Stage 5: Chase Parks, 17th
The Varsity will travel to Rome for the Berry Invitational.

Boys Place 15th at Berry Invitational
The Boys Cross Country Team placed 15th out of 33 teams in the Championship Race at the Berry Invitational on Saturday.
The team was led by Obed Pacheco, who went from being a top JV runner a week ago to our top varsity runner this week!
Obed and Raj Prashad both finished in a time of 17:33,
with Obed in 57th and Raj in 58th.
Jarrid Casimir was next, in 79th in 17:45.
Mike McClay was 109th in 18:07,
which makes him the 2nd fastest 9th grader in school history.
The final scoring place was Kevin Peek, who was 151st in 18:36. Also competing were Eric Heiss (154th), David Campbell (160th), Hunter Crawford (169th), Chris Patterson (201st), and Cody Campbell (219th).
Based on their performance, the team is now ranked 4th in the state in AAAA!
The entire team will travel to the Carrollton Invitational next Saturday.

The Boys Cross Country team, ranked 4th in AAAA, competed in the Carrollton Invitational on Saturday. In the Championship race, the boys finished 10th out of 21 teams. Leading the teams was Obed Pacheco, in 46th place (17:32). He was followed by Chris Patterson, 54th in 17:43; Jarrid Casimir, 59th in 17:46; Raj Prashad, 66th in 17:53; Cody Campbell, 69th in 17:54.
In the AAAA Varsity race, the team placed 5th out of 12 teams. Scoring for the team were Hunter Crawford (10th, 18:23), Nick Wolfe (21st, 18:50), Nick Phillips (26th, 19:12), Giang Nguyen (29th, 19:24) and Bret Schulte (34th, 19:31).
In the JV race, the team was 7th out of 14. Scoring were Anthony Summerour (21st, 19:45), Tony Hotle (26th, 20:00), Colby Newton (51st. 21:04), Sean McGrath (59th, 21:25), and Neil Battles (25th, 22:16).
In the Open race, the team was led by Jamie McCormick (8th, 20:04).

The varsity placed 9th
Scoring for the team were Chris Patterson (30th, 17;15), Obed Pacheco (31st, 17:15), Jarrid Casimir (42nd, 17:26), Cody Campbell (50th, 17:41)
and Raj Prashad (53rd, 17:45).
The JV placed 2nd
the first time in school history that they have won a plaque at County.
Scoring for the team were Kevin Peek (3rd, 17:44), Hunter Crawford (8th, 18:08), David Campbell (11th, 18:12), Kyle Groover (25th, 18:32), and Nick Wolfe (31st, 18:37).

Greensboro Invitational, September 30
The Boys Cross Country team placed 4th out of 26 teams at the Greensboro Invitational on 9/30. Scoring for the team were Obed Pacheco (16:58), Chris Patterson (17:18), Raj Prashad (17:27), Jarrid Casimir (17:28), and Chase Parks (17:29). In the JV race, Freshman Mike McClay ran 17:46 to win by over 30 seconds! Great job, guys.

Alexander Meet, October 7th
The Boys Cross Country team had a big weekend, winning the varsity race at the Alexander Invitational. The boys were ranked 3rd coming into the race but finished ahead of #2 St. Pius by 5 points, and tied #7 Marist but won on the tiebreaker. Scoring for the team were Chris Patterson (16:43), Obed Pacheco (16:50), Raj Prashad (16:53), Jarrid Casimir (16:55), and Mike McClay (17:04).
The JV team placed 3rd in the Open race, only losing to two varsity squads. Scoring for the team were Kevin Peek (17:22), David Campbell (17:24), Eric Heiss (17:32), Kyle Groover (17:40), and Hunter Crawford (17:57).
Sophomore Nick Phillips won the 9th and 10th grade race with a time of 17:57. Also
earning individual medals in the JV and 9th and 10th races were Tyler Scott, Dylan Gray, Giang Nguyen, and Steven Clay.
The 2006 Boys Cross Country team, was ranked #2 in AAAA, and qualified for the State Meet at the Region 8-AAAA meet in Conyers. The boys won their first ever varsity Region title by putting all 7 varsity runners in the top 10. Leading the charge was Obed Pacheco, 2nd in 17:02. Chase Parks was 3rd in 17:22, and Jarrid Casimir was next (5th, 17:31). Rounding out the scoring were Chris Patterson (7th, 17:38) and Raj Prashad (8th, 17:41). Also on the team were Mike McClay (9th)
and Kyle Groover (10th).
The boys also won the JV title, making them back to back JV Region Champions. Cody Campbell won the race in 17:41, and he was followed by Kevin Peek (2nd, 18:03) and Eric Heiss (3rd, 18:21). Also scoring were Nick Wolfe (5th, 18:24) and Nick Phillips (6th, 18:26).

The girls ran a great race even with some injuries. The Varsity Team came in 6th place out of 12 teams. Their team average was 24:50.26. Great race girls!!!
